Thank you and followups!

KinkForAll New York City is over, but this page and its related pages will continue to evolve.

The event was a stunning success, with over 100 participants at some points during the day and a grand total of 45 presentations. Although the event itself is over, this is just the beginning. Some things to do now are:

This event would not be possible without contributions from participants like you. There are a number of ways you can contribute—only one of them is financial. If you can make or bring any of the things on the needs list, please do so! If you can't but still want to help out, then please consider offering a monetary donation in the amount of your choosing by clicking the "Donate" button, below. Even as little as $5 goes a very long way towards helping us hold a better event.

Your donation is being routed directly to an unorganizer of this event and will be used for the event itself, its promotion, or the promotion of KinkForAll only.

Individual donors choose to contribute their time, money, efforts and/or assistance as a means of expressing their support for the ideals and goals of KinkForAll. To view a current list of individual financial donations so far, see the KinkForAll New York City financials Funding sheet.

Sponsors make our event better by donating some resources of their organization to the KinkForAll community. These are organizations you know and love, or will love if you don't already know them.

I can bring a video camera and a Flip video camera, plus an audio recording device.

I can bring food too - as we get closer to the event and know how many people will be attending I'm happy to go shopping for eats. If it's preferable to food I would be happy to pony up $$ to be a sponsor, except that I don't do paypal.

I'm absolutely terrible with media, so any help with AV stuff is appreciated! I plan to bring my computer and, if I do any presentations, a microphone to record myself with, which others are welcome to use as well. I'm not entirely sure how it'll work out, though.

As for sponsorship, keep a look out for an email from me. We can work around PayPal for money issues. If we end up getting enough monies to do it, I would be thrilled to be able to get everyone a catered meal!

I have a very small battery powered PA (amp) and mic cable. If someone had a lavaliere or a wireless microphone, we could have a nice setup to provide amplification for those "low talkers" presenting at the event. I also have a couple of laptops that are let us say "riskable" that I would be willing to use as event loaners if people want to do powerpoint or net demonstrations. Anyone got an LCD projector? I'm up for playing AV boy for the event.

maymay said

at 9:04 am on Feb 5, 2009

Awesome, Jason! An AV boy sounds just like what the doctor ordered. :) Getting amplification for those of us who are "low talkers" (like me) sounds great. Even greater would be the possibility of recording everyone's presentation, so if we can also do that somehow, let's do our best to.

Hi all,
I'm adding this comment in order to preserve both the data integrity of this page and the commentary that has been made on it. Sassafras Lowrey has decided not to attend and has deleted her name from the list, with a comment. I want this list of attendees to stay functional, but don't wish to delete commentary when it occurs. Therefore, Sassafras, I've removed your name from the list and copied your commentary below. I hope this is acceptable to you.

On 02/19/09, Sassafrass Lowery wrote: "pulled out due to what I consider to be an irresponsible and insensitive policy regarding the safety of leather folk who do not wish to be publically photographed. "

Amy-- I think the editing mishap was my fault-- my formatting was off. I didn't think I had actually deleted anyone, however. My apologies.

Nope, wasn't you - your formatting was off but I fixed it when I made my entry (after yours). You can look at the page history if you'd like.

I'm really disappointed -- my travel plans for going to the West Coast changed after I'd planned to do this, and I forgot to look at the dates! I really hope that this goes so incredibly well that there will be another one, because I want to be there!

@Amy: Thanks for carefully watching and restoring the participant list after that editing mistake. Chalk up another reason why it's terribly awesome to have page histories recorded, eh? :)

I have a great projector, which I will bring, but I may not have proper cords to connect it to every type of laptop. People should bring connecting cords (laptop to projector) and adapters. That would help. Also, I'm concerned about the security of the projector. I cannot let it be used unless there's some way to secure it. Does that make sense? In other words, I could let an AV person be in charge of it if the equipment is supervised, or lend it to a specific presenter that I know. Hope that helps.

Will there be any compilation/list of blog posts about kfanyc? I think that'd be a great idea.

maymay said

at 10:43 am on Mar 9, 2009

NYUGirlInTown: There isn't yet, but I've been encouraging people who blog about KFANYC to use the tag "KFANYC". If they do this, then you should be able to use your favorite blog search engine to find all the appropriately related posts. See, for instance, http://technorati.com/tag/kfanyc for a good example of what this might look like.
