Purpose
The KinkForAll Mailing List is a public forum to discuss KinkForAll events or to seek help organizing a local KinkForAll event from others. It is a global list, so as the KinkForAll community grows, it's important to make sure the list remains useful for everyone involved.
Using the Mailing List
Here are some tips for keeping our mailing list usable and useful for everyone subscribed.
Conventions
- Each new topic should be introduced in a new thread. If you're changing the subject in a conversation on the mailing list, do not simply hit the reply button. Instead, compose a new message and, if necessary, reference the previous thread with a link.
- If your message pertains to events in a specific geographic locale, prefix your subject line with the event locale, a colon, and a space. For example, the subject lines of messages about KinkForAll Washington DC should begin with 'DC: '. (Example Google Groups search page.) Similarly, messages about KinkForAll events in New York City should begin with 'NYC: '.
- If your message pertains to an individual KinkForAll event, prefix your subject line with the event tag, a colon, and a space. For example, the subject lines of messages about KinkForAllBoston should begin with 'KFABOS: '. Similarly, messages about KinkForAllNewYorkCity2 should begin with 'KFANYC2: '.
How to configure your email client to automatically sort KinkForAll mailing list messages
The KinkForAll mailing list can sometimes experience a lot of traffic, especially when organizers are busy in the pre-planning stages of putting on an individual unconference. It may be useful for subscribers to learn how to automatically filter their email inboxes so that messages from the KinkForAll mailing list stay as organized as possible. This section describes how to do this for a variety of email client software.
Please be aware that these techniques rely upon everyone adhering to the mailing list conventions. If you find these techniques helpful, remember that sticking to the conventions noted above yourself will mean that everyone else can benefit, too.
