Welcome to the KinkForAll Community Wiki

KinkForAll is an ad-hoc unconference on sexuality for anyone and everyone, drawing participants from an astounding range of both sexuality-related and other communities. Anyone with the desire to learn in an open environment or with something to contribute is welcome and invited to participate.

KinkForAll is a 100% free event that is open to the public. Read about KinkForAll in 10 seconds or less or watch this 1-minute video trailer.

KinkForAll is a fast-paced event with discussions, presentations, and interaction from all participants. There are no spectators, only participants. To attend, you must give a presentation or otherwise help out (learn how). KinkForAll events aim to support participants face-to-face and to create shared knowledge with lasting benefit to humanity. KinkForAll is inspired by and based upon the BarCamp community and unconference model.

A note about editing: Users of this site are free to edit the contents as they see fit—just take some care while you do so and remember that your edits will go into the public domain! Thanks.

Upcoming KinkForAlls

This list is the 'definitive list' of upcoming KinkForAlls. The links in the event lists must point to a properly formatted KinkForAll page (see UsingTheKinkForAllWiki for details) and each list item should be marked up as an hCalendar event microformat. Unfortunately, external linking here is likely to cause difficult-to-detect spam to fill the page. If your country isn't listed, perhaps it's time for you to organize a KinkForAll there.

Perhaps this is my own bias, but I prefer the phrase, "ad-hoc informational unconference" over the phrasing "ad-hoc educational unconference" specifically because it avoids using the word "education," which has a negative connotation for many people, and particular for those of different socioeconomic classes. In my revisions to your content, Sara, I had already revised the text away from educational to informational, but now I see you've reverted that change. Is there some reason you want the phrasing to read "educational" and dislike the phrasing of "informational"? If so, let me know, so we can discuss this particular text instead of having an edit war. :) Thanks.

I don't know what the protocol for editing this page is, but in the interests of not having an overly cumbersome editing process I thought I'd just edit it. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, so please let me know if that was wrong.

Anyway, people seemed to like "An ad-hoc unconference on sexuality for anyone and everyone" on the website, and I think it's clearer than "convergence of sexuality and the rest of life", so I'm proposing that as the new one-liner description. I don't have much opinion about whether it should be "informational" or "educational" (I mostly think that we're fine without either) but if anyone wants to put that back in please feel free.

Er, I meant, "on the mailing list", not "on the website".

@Ironrose
I like this edit. I think the description looks just fine. I will add it to the KFA splash site as well.

@maymay
Actually, I did not mean to start an edit war over educational vs. informational. I thought I was correcting one of my own typos. I slightly prefer "educational," as I think "informational" is a bit vague. However, the distinction is not one I feel strongly about, so I'm fine to see "informational" in use here.

Sara, sorry, "edit war" is Wikipedia-speak for editing over one another; it doesn't have a connotation of hostility. Sorry about that. Also, sine Ironrose just edited it without educational or informational in there, I'm fine with that now. Just calling it an unconference is accurate and simple enough for me. :)

Also, Ironrose, ROCK ON for this: "I don't know what the protocol for editing this page is, but in the interests of not having an overly cumbersome editing process I thought I'd just edit it. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, so please let me know if that was wrong."

You are completely correct in this; there is NO protocol for editing the page. Just edit it. :D You are the win.

I've removed KinkForAll San Francisco and KinkForAll Toronto from the list of upcoming KinkForAlls due to inactivity; none of the people in San Francisco or Toronto have made any contact with any public KinkForAll channel, neither on this wiki or the public mailing list and I've seen no reference that either event is being planned in any other public sphere. Hopefully one of the people who once contacted me privately from those areas still wants to do this, and if so, I encourage you to actually start mobilizing in concrete ways.

I added a link to our Diversity page on the front page. Something as critical as diversity for this group should be on our main page and one of the easiest things to find.
